All About Nanaimo BC

We decided to investigate more of our home province and so I chose to write this post all about Nanaimo, BC.

Whether you are a BC local or just visiting Nanaimo from afar you really must read this report.

First I must mention that this is a place that is somewhat slower, somewhat woodsier, and also a great deal friendlier.

Still interested?

Okay...Listed below are a few interesting facts and also 5 interesting things to do in Nanaimo, BC!

Situated on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is roughly 110 km northwest of Victoria, and 55 kilometers west of Vancouver, divided by the Strait of Georgia, also connected to Vancouver through the Horseshoe Bay BC Ferries terminal in West Vancouver.

As a result of its comparatively dry summers, the Köppen climate classification puts it in the northernmost limits of their Csb or even cool-summer Mediterranean zone.Other climate classification systems, for example Trewartha, put it securely from the Oceanic zone (Can).

Heavy snowfall does sometimes happen during winter, using a listing daily full of 0.74 metres (29.13 in) on 12 February 1975, however, the mean greatest cap is simply 0.2 metres (7.9 in).

Nanaimo also includes three BC Ferry terminals situated at Duke Point Departure Bay, and also downtown. The Caribbean terminal providers Gabriola Island while Departure Bay and Duke Point service Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay respectively.

Bus service in town is offered by Nanaimo Regional Transit.

The Port Authority also operates two terminal facilities one at Assembly Wharf (close to the downtown center) and the next in Duke Point for freight operations. The Authority completed the inclusion of a $ 22 Million Cruise Ship Terminal in Assembly Wharf capable of tackling including supplying clearance to Canada Border Services Agency, big cruise ships.

Nanaimo has had a series of four different Chinatowns. The first was the biggest in British Columbia, because of mounting tensions linked to the hiring of strikebreakers that were Chinese of this Dunsmuir coal company, the business helped proceed Chinatown beyond city limits to a place. In 1908, when two Chinese entrepreneurs purchased the website and attempted to increase rents, in reaction, and also with the support of 4,000 investors from around Canada, the neighborhood united forces and purchased the website for the next Chinatown in a brand new place, focused on Pine Street. That Chinatown, by then burnt down. A fourth Chinatown, also known as Lower Chinatown or even "new city", prospered for a little while at the 1920s on Machleary Street.

So as Vancouver Island's second-largest town is a scenic oceanfront city with amazing mountain views along with a busy harbor. The most unique heritage of it is famous for, its seafood cuisine and activities like snorkeling kayaking, golfing or road trekking. It is labeled "Hub, Tub and Pub City" -- together with the "Bar" part coming in The Dinghy Dock Pub & Restaurant, Canada's just floating bar. It is guaranteed to make for a encounter. Rent quaint cabin or a condominium for only $635 a week great for second cheapest in Canada.  The mall is also very nice for some movie watching at WoodGrove Center
